The supporter

The supporter

The life of a football supporter goes beyond keeping scores of his club. A real supporter can always be found in the stadium to encourage his club. Real supporters are not afraid to show their passion and the connection with their favourite club. Besides singing songs, encouraging players and cheering when their club scores, wearing a club shirt can also make them feel like they are part of the club.

Blind fan support

Beside the general football supporters that can be found in the stadium, there are also blind fans in stadiums who support their club.  These supporters are not less fanatic due to their limitations, but unfortunately the accessibility for blind supporters in the football world is minimal. It is not common that every stadium has a place for blind and visually impaired fans to attend home and away matches, but the experience of club products is also left untouched for blind people. For example, their experience with the club colours, the club shirt and the club weapon is different than the experience of abled supports.

Have you ever thought about what you and your club could do for your blind supporters?

The shirt is tactile, where people without colour perception can perceive the colours by means of touch. To make this work, the characteristics of the physical colours from the shirt are linked to the touchable characteristics in various textile types.

In addition, the textual elements from the shirt have been replaced by braille. A distinction is made between visual information and textual information. This makes it possible to create a club shirt that is accessible for blind supporters.

The system

Onderzoek Kleuren

Creating an inventory of the colours from existing football shirts.

Koppel kleur aan Textiel

Converting colours into touchable colours by linking them to the texture of various textiles.

Koppel kleur aan Textiel

Create a new football shirt with different textiles from the existing shirt.
